Blue Monday Birdhouses

'Tis Blue Monday again, with thanks to Smiling Sally for hosting this event ---->

I was at the cottage yesterday, wondering what I could come up with for today's Blue Monday entry. "The water" said my husband. "The sky" said my son. Been there, done both of them. It was time to get the camera and take a walk. I didn't go further than my next door neighbor's yard when I saw this birdhouse.
Hmmmm, an interesting possibility. I kept walking and found this one on top of a piling. Not truly blue, but bits of it are blue. It was too cute to pass up and include in today's post. I think it proves lady birds like to look their best and will visit salons for the full treatment.
This birdhouse condo is above a sign advertising a rental cottage. The cool temps and rain we've had in Michigan have kept things growing like mad, especially weeds. Perhaps the foliage being so close to the condos keeps bugs at hand for the birds, making this a bed and breakfast type of place.
I hope you are having a wonderful Blue Monday. In my last few posts, I've ended with a question to ponder from Chat Pack. Today I have a question of my own. Name something that you don't like to see in a particular shade of blue, or maybe not in any shade of the color we normally love. For me it would be royal blue roses on a cake from commercial bakeries. No matter how nicely made the rose is, the color usually looks garish against a white or pastel cake top.

I love that your husband and son are helping you find Blue Monday offerings, and you found some good ones. Believe it or not, I think that blue can be overdone so that it's not attractive. Thanks for sharing. Happy Blue Monday.

LOL I think those birdhouses are so cute. Who would have though - a salon and a condo :-) Very interesting. Good thing you took that walk.

Oh, i can't think of blue and something that will make a bad combo. I don't think I've encountered one yet. hhhhmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Happy Blue Monday!

I can just see you wandering around the neighborhood, snapping shots of other people's birdhouses. ;o) It's a cute idea....I may steal it some day. Love the beauty parlor house.

Blue & skin...very bad combo!

That last photo is my favorite, a little birdie village. Something that I don't like in blue? For me, walking into a room that's painted a dark, dark blue is very unsettling, very claustrophic. But I'm that way with in a room with any dark color walls, so maybe that doesn't count?

Hi Knitty, the bird houses are wonderful. I too love birdhouses and have a few on my deck. I would like to paint one one day. I am not artistic though. I still love them though.

I thought your post today was really neat. Some interesting birdhouses. My family thinks I am crazy, since they gave me my digital camera, I never leave home without it. You never know what you might see.

Hello...

Ahhh...what darling little birdhouses...they're absolutely charming!!! I love them all but I think my favorite is the birdhouse village...I love all the different colors! What is it about cute birdhouses...they're just so friendly and quaint! Guess that's why I love them!!!

Hmmm...blue...I definitely agree with you about dark blue roses on a cake...just not appetizing! I also don't like certain blue shades for eye shadow...it just looks so fakey to me! Hehe!

Just wanted to thank you for stopping by my place and taking a peek at my new frenchy blue china...and for leaving me such a nice comment!

Have a terrific Tuesday, my friend!

What cute little birdhouses. I love looking at all of the different kinds you can get now. I have several in my house. I usually keep them out in the summer months but some I keep out all year. All of your pictures are charming.
