Wet weather is good for something

I think it began raining around midnight and has almost stopped now, 14 hours later. More is predicted over the weekend. It would be a good weekend to cook if I felt like cooking. A better weekend to bake but heaven knows we don't need what I would bake. I guess I will just have to play with my new toy all weekend.
What did I unwrap? Hmmm, what did I ask you to talk me out of a month ago? No one did. In fact, most of you encouraged me to want this gift which my husband, sons and daughter-in-law gave me last night. Colton was in on it too, but I don't think he had much input.
Yes, I got an iPad 2!  I am so excited! I didn't know that having a Kindle and then an iPhone would lead to this addiction but there you have it...all since Mother's Day. The road to wireless electronic media nirvana addiction was short and sweet, and the pushers weren't even shady characters!

Almost 30 years ago I had my handwriting analyzed by a psychic who often appeared on a local TV program. The most surprising and unbelievable thing she told me all those years ago was that I would spend long hours working on a computer. At the time, home computers in middle American neighborhoods were as rare as private jets. A few years later Bill surprised me with a computer for Christmas. I didn't know what I was going to do with it, but I was intrigued. A few years later Bill began his own business and there I was...on the computer at work and at home for long hours at a time.

In retirement I am spending as much time per day as I did when we had the business, but now it 95% pleasure with just a little productive accounting thrown in. It is funny to think of that first computer with its limited memory, bulky monitor, those large floppy disks and no internet and see how that led to the lightweight, oh so portable devices I use today.
Does your computer time surprise you too?   Photobucket

Congratulations. I know you will be thrilled with it, but don't be discouraged if you have some negative feelings along the way. I have had mine for about 17 months now and I wish I could trade it in on the new version!
Hope you had a wonderful birthday.

Hooray for you! My daughter just received an IPad from her boyfriend and she LOVES it. I have been looking over her shoulder, I really don't need one but they look like so much fun!! Enjoy!!

I used to yell at my kids about computer/TV/video time...I still do, but after entering Blog World,I do understand that this computer thing can be HARD to resist! By the way,
I don't get what is so great about an ipad,( and I probably should not be told)that a laptop cannot do.
Cheers!
