Ooooooh and Ahhhhhhhh

This is my favorite time of year! I never tire of watching fireworks nor of watching my son with my grandson.
For a small city, my hometown puts on a tremendous display each year thanks to corporate sponsors, private donations and nominal entrance fees to the park where all the activity originates.

Lucky me though, all of the photos in this collage were shot from my driveway. While we don't hear the music by not being at the park, we don't fight traffic when it is time to leave, we don't have to lug coolers in and out, and the best convenience of all...our own bathrooms are readily available!

Get your sparkle on people! Practice your ooohs and ahhhhs and celebrate the glory of the red, white and blue!

Beautiful pictures. I would love to sit in your driveway and watch the show. I hate the noise that goes with the exploding fireworks, (sensitive hearing) so I only go to the displays if forced. I also hate the folks that think that it is time for drinking, swearing, and fighting with your kids and spouse kind of night. Wish to remember the fireworks of my youth with sparklers and a few fireworks sent up by nice neighbors. Ahhh & ohhhs for sure!

Have you already had fireworks? We are still waiting for ours - I love that picture of you!

Back when more suburbs had their own displays (many have canceled now due to cost of fireworks, OT for police and fire etc), my town picked the last Friday of June as the date for the celebration. It doesn't usually feel this far from the fourth, but next Friday is July 1st, so yes, we've had our display already.

The huge Detroit-Windsor International fireworks on the Detroit River will be Monday night. I'll watch those on TV. No, it won't nearly be as exciting as seeing them live, but downtown traffic is a nightmare and the music for the TV broadcast is timed beautifully to match the pyrotechnics.

There are other city displays to catch between now and Independence Day, and some of the boat clubs near our cottage have them also and they can be seen from our deck.

None of them beat Friday night's show, but in my book, no display is a bad one as long as it is done safely and no one is hurt.

Monday? I always dread working Monday and pray I have no calls that take me around the city.

I love fireworks displays, too.

I enjoyed visiting and seeing this great display of family and firewroks. We certainly do not need fireworks in Texas. The fires are raging too much now.
