About blogging...

I have a heartfelt sentiment to share with all of you, thanks to Carol at Charli and Me.  If you are new to blogging, you may not feel this yet. If you've been at it a while or if you are a reader who isn't blogging yet but has come to recognize names that recur in comments on certain blogs, I think you'll understand this:
When I began blogging, I was unsure of what to say and how often to say it. Like anything new that becomes part of our lives, it took a while to find the rhythm and balance of blogging. I wish I had the discipline to post daily but that seems to come and go in waves. Blogging certainly gave me a new respect for columnists who turn out articles daily or even 2-3 times per week. I fondly remember Erma Bombeck's columns and to think she wrote books too!

Bloggers love comments. Even though many if not most of us write for our own pleasure, there is a thrill in getting feedback. I haven't been good lately in leaving comments, often because of time constraints. The nosy part of me wants to read what everyone has to say while the part of me responsible for things offline is tapping her foot and pointing at the clock.

Hopefully I don't look like the rat OR the man in the leather jacket!

Speaking of comments, I've had a few comments that have been made by bloggers with restrictions on their profiles that don't allow me to discover their blog address. On days that I participate in a meme or blog party such as Smiling Sally's Blue Mondays, I can sometimes trace the writer to their blog on the host's link list.  If you find that you are leaving comments and not receiving them in reply, please check your settings and see if others can reach your blogsite.  I understand privacy issues, but it would seem to me that posters willing to leave a comment would like to be reached in return. If anyone knows "Z the Y", please let them know that I appreciated their comment on my March 1st post and would love to visit their site.

Before that impatient rat starts mentioning that it is time for lunch, I am wrapping this up and visiting some blogs this morning with the best of intentions on leaving comments.

Knitty, I know just what you mean. When I began blogging, I was thrilled when I got any new followers -- and still am. But comments are becoming more important to me now than they were before. I would like to know whether I keep my readers or whether I perhaps wear thin and they eventually stop coming. On the other hand, people are busy -- me included.

Knit, I too know what you mean. I used to have a lot of comments, but guess my health issues are not what people want to hear, but yet I read about others and their health problems and they get ganormous comments. Oh well, I enjoy if just one comes and visits, but they sure missed out on a great giveaway for Valentine. I only had 4 signers and guess who Al pulled. My computer was out, so he had to do it for me at his house---MizSmoochie. Not sure if you seen it or not, but I did try to get people to list it on their blogs, but never saw anyone post it. Like you said, It's my blog and if they care, I hurt, but life goes on. Luv Ya, Pat

Why is it that some times I feel very verbose, but other times, I can't leave a comment. It's not that I don't want to, but the words just don't do it. I wish there were "me, too" buttons or emoticons to click on to indicate my feelings or just a "I stopped by" button.

I hear ya, Knitty. I just started blogging in November and it was mostly for my own pleasure, but I have discovered that I love feedback! I love gaining followers, too. Even if they don't post comments often, it's good to open up your blog and see all those faces there and new ones added from time to time. :)

Oh my gosh - I have everyone beat - I have been blogging four years or more and I had no comments for a long time.

You're right - I started it for me as a way to vent and a way to remember what was happening in my life.

I did get to see an 'evolvement' of sorts.

But comments are great and making friends like you - even better.

Blah on comments...lol...ha ha I love to leave them but feel very uncomfortable getting any that "praise" me. Just the donkey in me I guess. I think a lot of folks are afraid to leave comments. They think, "Who cares what I say?" Little do they know!
