Doesn't look like a $67 bag, does it?

I had a '20% off all purchases' coupon for Joann's that was expiring today. The afternoon temperature was 14 degrees with a windchill of 3 below. I wasn't going to go to Joann's but we had a birthday party to attend late in the afternoon and I needed a small gift bag. Since I had to go out anyway and Joann's does have gift bags, I figured I should go after all.

Does this look like a $67.68 gift bag?

No? Would it help if I said I saved $16.10?

No?

I also bought 4 packs of scrapbooking paper, all of them discounted 50% before the additional 20% coupon, 2 magazines, some stickers, a dipping spoon and fork for the next time I make a mess out of petit fours special dessert, a yarn accessory that I won't try to explain here, a spool of ribbon and 6 small wood scripted words to paint. I don't know whether Dream, Create, Smile, Live, Love and Laugh will become wall hangings or magnets but they needed to come home with me. Honest.

If a little knowledge can be a dangerous thing, a '20% off all purchases' coupon can be a hazardous one, at least to your wallet! Photobucket

20% off couponitis must be hereditary. I went in our new Joanns for thread to fix a pair of my son's jeans and came out with a whole bag full of "necessities".
Here's to a year full of crafting happiness

I hear ya. But as talented as you are, you should not feel guilty even if that bag cost twice that! :)

funny! i try to explain away my coupons all the time...but ed still insistes that i had to SPEND MONEY to be able to use the coupon, and if i just would have stayed home we would be better off. i think i may have told ed to "bite me"...:)

Look at it this way, if the coupon had been only 10% off, then you saved DOUBLE on your purchases with the 20% off coupon, and the gift bag was essentially free!!!

Almost any coupon to Joanne's or any fabric store is dangerous.
You did good though, you enjoyed your time there and your purchases.
Have fun and happy crafting.

I love Joanne's, but I do think I've seen a lot of mismarked prices on items there.

So can you read what Emmie wrote?

Have fun with your projects.
