It is pretty much my days ... ups and downs ... and I really try to keep it to the ups ... that way I focus on them. Yes, I am a knitter, but over the last year knitting has taken a slump mostly because I am struggling with my life right now. But I still do fiber stuff, buy books related to my hobby and keep connected by attending my knitting group every Tuesday. I know my current situtation isn't forever.

My blogging HELPS me greatly with my life and perspective, and I LOVE seeing comments from folks - especially new ones.

I, too, love boring food ... and I love love love boring food I didn't make - (for example: boiled hot dogs are good at home on the bun with mustard. The same boiled hot dog bought out of the home is GREAT!! Go figure.) I totally enjoyed the cartoon - ostrich tasks like Swan .... that made me howl!

Loved the post. I will be visiting back again.Retired Knitterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13662288640032813770noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4182537822027964947.post-38861832721055724662011-06-16T15:50:07.276-04:002011-06-16T15:50:07.276-04:00I had to stop over and see what you're up to. ...I had to stop over and see what you're up to. You most always bring me a chuckle, and this one didn't disappoint. I agree with every syllable here. I even think I could guess the restaurants you are talking about. Perhaps the only good thing that may come out of this down economy is that restaurants will have to start offering more to their customers. I regularly feel -- if I focus solely on the food -- ripped off when we eat out. Sometimes it is worth it to me simply to spare me the trouble of cooking it, but that is not saying much. I can't remember the last time we ate out and felt as if we got something that we couldn't have done better at home -- or at some place cheaper. And when the bill is around $40, I don't want to have to order at a counter, carry my own food to the table, and bus it after were are finished -- that doesn't save me much trouble, does it?! I don't like this new trend in restaurants lately, and I hope it fails. so there!

It's good to see you again. We are doing okay here, the three of us. My daughter, however, continues to struggle mightily. I'll stop by again. :)LemonyRenee'https://www.blogger.com/profile/07200070770150819952noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4182537822027964947.post-46620020095247415162011-06-15T16:51:25.247-04:002011-06-15T16:51:25.247-04:00How True! Whoever makes up the menu wants those elderly folks to think that they are getting fancy food. Give her a piece of ham, well made mac & cheese and some good green beans and she will be happy. Don't forget her dessert either!
BeckieSewconsulthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00427879934589715958noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4182537822027964947.post-71374486392983165642011-06-15T13:15:40.960-04:002011-06-15T13:15:40.960-04:00I guess I like everything...except over priced foo...I guess I like everything...except over priced food. I too like "boring" food - or ...Amen :D!

I too like "boring" food - or as we like to call it "comfort food".

I do enjoy reading and watching TV about food - but some of it is so frou-frou - and the prices, puhleese.

They actually had two reviews in the Washington Post this past week - one was for a hot dog cart [yes, CART] that sold $9 hot dogs! and another where a woman was making "artisan" ice cream that cost upwards of $20 per PINT! How can people NOT be embarrassed to charge these prices for these things.

And do not get me started on cupcake shops and their 3.00 dollar "creations". BAH!

Yeah, kind of passionate about this. giggleSkippyMomhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09479661523059481730noreply@blogger.com
